Keith York – Founder
Keith grew up in sunny Northern California enjoying many endless summer nights playing outdoors with his older brother. One of the games they played most often was bat-n-ball; basically hitting a tennis ball as far as we could from one end of the cul-de-sac to the other. Then they moved to a small 5-acre farm and played a similar version of bat-n-ball, this time the object was seeing who could hit the most home runs over the corral fencing surrounding the sheep pasture. Fast forward a couple of decades, Keith is now the father of a young boy who loves baseball as much as he did as a child. On his son’s tee ball field is where the idea for Shuttle Baseball was born. Through his experience using Shuttle Baseball as a training tool for his son (and the unbelievable progress that seemed to result), he became determined to take this idea to the masses. “It’s a great feeling to think that this product may contribute in a meaningul way to the future of the sport of baseball. Given the statistical slump in offensive output in recent years, how rewarding would it be to one day witness more potent offenses in baseball, possibly spawned by the widespread use of this training tool.” Sure, it must seem like a bad case of wide-eyed optimism, but isn’t that what dreams are made of? Consider this. “Teaching hitters the importance of swing plane and square contact, at an earlier age, may produce long-lasting changes in how the game could be played – from a purely offensive point of view.” And though the impact of this training supplement may not be as obvioius as that caused by steriods, at least our brand of performance-enhancement is 100% clean. “My dad didn’t preach that cheating is ok so long as you don’t get caught. Quite the contrary – he preached discipline and hard-work above all. That his values and his ethic are what makes the man.” Here’s to you Dad – for being a great role model to the both of us!
Brian Furtado – Public Relations
Brian is best known for his intense competitive spirit and his unyielding passion for the sport of baseball. During his high school years, he was a star player for a local powerhouse baseball program in Northern California. As a senior, his team ended the year ranked #1 in California. Brian went on to play collegiate ball for a local university where he ultimately earned his degree in physical education. Although a shoulder injury ended his prospects of pursuing baseball professionally, he remains heavily involved in the sport of baseball as a little league head coach and highly-regarded pitching instructor for local high school teams. Brian is excited about what we are learning each and every day, and about the prospect of this product being a potential game changer. “Learning to hit a baseball has always been one of the toughest skills to master in all of sports. To think that we may have accidentally stumbled on something truly magical in Shuttle Baseball. What a great blessing that is.” At minimum the ball is a great solo trainer. At best, the visual feedback of the ball may facilitate the learning exchange between a player and his/her coach. “That may prove to be the ultimate breakthrough concept people have been waiting for – bridging the communication divide.”
